In addition, the extensive supporting programme with guided tours, workshops, symposia, talks, book presentations, the daily image discussions and studio visits invites visitors to delve deeper into the subject. The festival centre in the Atelier Augarten is the heart of FOTO WIEN. In addition to being the presentation venue for exhibitions on the main themes, it is also a meeting place and venue for exchange and discourse.
At the symposium "What do you think of the material?" on 18 and 19 March, various actors in the photography scene will have their say. They will analyse the changing practical and theoretical requirements in dealing with photography and its mediation. In particular, the concerns of artists will be included in the debate in order to point out new fields of action for politics and institutions.
On 1 March, international experts will discuss how NFTs affect the production, distribution and collecting of photography. With the Photobook Exhibition, the Photobook Market, the Photobook Award and numerous book presentations and book signings, the last weekend of the festival will be dedicated to the photobook.
The realisation of this diverse festival with its wide range of outstanding projects requires many people who share a passion for photography with us. We would like to thank all participating artists, photographers, photo experts and programme partners as well as the team members of FOTO WIEN for their great commitment, with which they give visibility to the most diverse aspects of photography and make them accessible to a broad audience. We would like to thank the City of Vienna, our numerous cooperation partners and sponsors, as well as the Burghauptmanschaft for making the wonderful festival headquarters available to us.
We wish all visitors impressive and inspiring moments at FOTO WIEN!
