CALL: PROGRAM PARTNERS FOTO WIEN 2021

With the FOTO WIEN festival in March 2021, photography will once again be the focus of attention in Vienna. The festival will take place 10 March through 28 March 2021.

All artists as well as museums, galleries, off-spaces and associations are cordially invited to participate in the FOTO WIEN Festival with their programmes. Please submit any photo exhibitions and projects (symposia, talks, workshops, etc.) you have scheduled for March 2021 — the submission deadline is 1 September 2020.

FOTO WIEN curates and organizes a diverse programme that includes exhibitions, panel discussions, artist talks with national and international experts, a comprehensive educational program with guided tours and workshops, portfolio reviews, a photobook market, and FOTO Awards.

Two thematic areas form the main focus of the festival for 2021:

Focus on female photographers highlights the outstanding work of female photographers from the invention of the medium in the 19th century to the present day and aims to contribute to making these achievements visible so that they can find their way into art history books. The second thematic area Rethinking Nature / Rethinking Landscape focuses on the key role of photography in the perception of nature. Many artists contribute to the understanding of the current environmental situation and use the potential of photography to reflect on the critical relationship between human and nature.

If your exhibition or project can be assigned to one of the main themes, please indicate this in your submission.

The jury will convene in mid September 2020 to decide which exhibitions and projects will be part of FOTO WIEN 2021.

Jury: Rainer Iglar, Fotohof Salzburg; Martin Janda, gallery owner; Verena Kaspar-Eisert, FOTO WIEN; Bettina Leidl, FOTO WIEN; Maren Lübbke-Tidow, curator; Sophie Thun, artist; Maria Ziegelböck, University of Applied Arts Vienna

We will announce the participants at the end of September 2020.
