The first edition of FOTO WIEN ended on 20 April 2019. For four weeks Vienna was dedicated to artistic photography, which was shown, discussed, discussed and celebrated. A total of around 75,000 visitors attended the first edition of the new festival, in which 130 programme partners with 700 national and international artists took part.
For the first time, a festival centre was set up in the unique Postsparkasse of Otto Wagner. For 18 days, the festival presented photo exhibitions and prices, an extensive discourse programme and guided tours, a Photobook Market as well as a Pop Up Shop and Café in the historic building. The festival headquarters developed into a crowd-puller and was visited by more than 15,000 guests.
FOTO WIEN transformed the city into a hub for contemporary artistic photography: numerous national and international guests came to Vienna to present works, exchange ideas and discuss photography. The wide range of photographic work in the city became visible.
