Under the title Bodyfiction, the curators of the EMOP European Month of Photography explore the enactment, instrumentalisation, and representation of the human body in contemporary photography. This collaboration has resulted in a book project, exhibitions, and symposia in the participating cities with more than thirty artists currently shaping photography in this field participating. The book about the whole project Bodyfiction is available in the FOTO WIEN Pop-up Shop in the main banking hall.

The five positions nominated for the European Month of Photography Arendt Award 2019 will be presented at FOTO WIEN: Carina Brandes, Matthieu Gafsou, Weronika Gęsicka, Alix Marie, SMITH.

The European Month of Photography Arendt Award was inaugurated in 2013 to recognise young, European-based photographers and photo artists. The winner will be announced May 15, 2019, during the European Month of Photography, at Arendt House in Luxembourg.

The jury consists of five members of the European Month of Photography curatorial staff: Paul di Felice (Kunstverein Café-Crème asbl, Luxemburg), Verena Kaspar-Eisert (KUNST HAUS WIEN, Wien), Jean-Luc Soret (Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris), Branislav Štepánek (Central European House of Photography, Bratislava), Balázs Zoltán Tóth (Ungarisches Museum für Fotografie, Kecskemét).
