The Doubling of Time in Simple Elements
Exhibition
4lthangrund Augasse 2-6, 1090 Wien
8.—12.10.2025
Artists: Dimoiu Virginia
Virginia Dimoius’s series “The Doubling of Time in Simple Elements” explores the perception of time in an uncertain future. Using double and long exposures, she creates superimpositions that resemble distorted memories of a world that is in a state of constant transformation. Without any digital manipulation, light and movement are concentrated into traces of a future that stretches, distorts, and dissolves.
The images show visions of a time that does not proceed in a linear fashion but is fragmented and shifting. Moments repeat, change their form, blur, and dissolve—as if eroded before becoming tangible. This surreal aesthetic reveals what usually remains hidden: a future that is instable, unfathomable, and fleeting.
Dimoius’s oeuvre invites visitors to think about the uncertainties of tomorrow. What will remain? What will disappear? In an age of change and technological acceleration, the series captures an elusive future—in a single image.
