Mushrooms are ubiquitous, yet most of them remain invisible. The exhibition “The Hidden World of Mushrooms” at OstLicht invites visitors to discover this hidden realm through macrophotographs, time-lapse videos, and interactive installations, giving fascinating insight into the diversity and significance of fungus.
Mushrooms are essential components in our ecosystem that play a key role in medicine, circular economy, and even in art. Their impact on the environment, science, and technology, however, is often underestimated. The exhibition shows how mushrooms grow, communicate, and shape our world in many ways—from invisible mycelial networks under our feet to revolutionary innovations in biotechnology.
The exhibited photographs and videos by international scientists and photographs make the invisible visible. Accompanying texts in several languages make it possible for everyone to have access, promoting an inclusive experience. In addition, free tours are available for school classes, and educational material is provided so that teachers can effectively teach mycology.
