The photographs in this series refuse any categorization by genre or intent, hijacking the aesthetic of product and advertising photography. Taken out of context, they are free to subvert and confuse us with their message.
In my practice I play with the hybrid nature of the medium to create images that are seductive, brightly colored, and well lit, ready to advertise or sell.
I am generally interested in the banal, the artificial in the products, spaces and landscapes that surround us and the effect it has on our lives.
It’s a common experience to feel suffocated by too many things that are just waste in transit, the rubbish of tomorrow.
The world around us often seems like an illusion, obscured by the artifice of advertising and the simulation of nature.
Artificial intelligence is about to add another layer of computer-generated images, digested and reassembled through a systematic hierarchy of nonemotional value but economic success.
“LOOK AROUND YOU!” leaves us with a sense of unease about our clogged-up life, highlighting our complicity in the economic model that keeps markets going every day.
