Michael Goldgruber. TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER
Exhibition
Projektraum Viktor Bucher Praterstraße 13, 1020 Wien
19.9.—25.10.2025
Artists: Goldgruber Michael
Curator: Astrid Kury
Michael Goldgruber’s work positions him, so to speak, on the pulse of the present. His photographic oeuvre focuses on ecology or, rather, the accelerated collapse of this complex structure of relationships. It is an intense and constant encounter with all the closely intertwined damages to nature, in which he maps out the fault lines of perception to find a visual language beyond the voyeurism of the destruction of nature.
“Hoping for the best” also involves taking action. To this end, Goldgruber portrays many researchers and places where scientific research is conducted, studying the sensitive balance of nature to develop measures to save it. Research on climate and biodiversity has been continuously expanded in recent years, and in addition to the excellence of individual researchers, there are also several new institutes featuring new and exemplary architecture.
There is a touch of heroism in the artistic portraits of these researchers. By means of the axial clarity of the composition and the careful attention to light, Michael Goldgruber creates an aesthetic space that tells of optimism regarding the future, even in times of crisis. It is certain that our activity is changing the future.
