ON TRANSIENT PHENOMENA
Exhibition
L.art VIENNA Elisabethstraße 10, 1010 Wien
29.10.—8.11.2025
Artists: Micheli Sissa
Sissa Micheli’s photographs—often accompanied by videos, objects, and installations—focus on the transience of human existence, metamorphosis, and the staging of ephemeral phenomena: with flying textiles, usually in front of the face and body, she creates fascinating temporary sculptures that celebrate the fleeting and ephemeral in a sensually dynamic interplay. Her almost painterly works also symbolize the basic characteristic of photography: capturing and visually freezing a moment that is barely perceptible to the human eye. Smoke, which Micheli transfers to various materials, is also a recurring subject. Her photographic series of object assemblages from everyday and museum contexts, on the other hand, offers a humorous insight into an exciting surreal microcosm that also only exists for the photographic moment. Micheli is a master of staging. She makes impressive and highly aesthetic use of the medium of photography in its duality between reality and fiction.
