PASSION PAYS THE BILL
Exhibition
Viadukt Screenprints Gumpendorfer Straße 132, 1060 Wien
10.—17.10.2025
Artists: Traxler Helga
Curator: Bernadette Meisel
The photographs in this series play with themes that have appeared in artistic work through the centuries and retain their relevance to this day: intuition, self-doubt, esteem, stability, and role models. “Passion Pays the Bill” picks up fragments of very different stories and careers, and shows musicians in an environment that was individually chosen by them. However, something unites the artists: their passion, their courage, their network, and their stamina, as well as their talent and ability to make a living as musicians. Great artistic talent is often underestimated, only gaining attention and recognition later in life. The series features excerpts from my conversations with the musicians in the run-up to the photoshoots, as well as sound pieces by the participating artists. This will provide a stage not only for the photographic work and the personal visual language but most importantly for their multifaceted artistic voices.
