Self
Exhibition
Galerie am Park Liniengasse 2A, 1060 Wien
21.—25.10.2025
Artists: Dorninger Julia, Dorninger-Lehner Claudia
Siblings Claudia Dorninger-Lehner and Julia Dorninger investigate the subject of perception of space and appropriation of space in their practice as artists. Their work challenges the perception of bodies in complex social situations as well as its impact on everyday life and memory.
“Self” is an ongoing investigative project that the artists began in 2020. Against the backdrop of the concept of embodiment, they investigate how the daily flow of media images, supported by new technologies, influences one’s own body image. Their argument is that digital images are inscribed in the body, reflecting themselves in our perception of the body and manifesting themselves in our posture and gestures. They investigate this by questioning their own perception of body and trying to visualize this and related internal conditions.
What impact do mass media and the continual consumption of body images have on self-perception?
The works and objects that they created together unite their artistic approaches and techniques and can be read as a synthesis of their individual perceptions and experiences.
