STEPPE SCAPE
Exhibition
Vienna Collectors Club Herrengasse 6-8/2/7, 1010 Wien
9.10.—19.11.2025
Artists: Kristofor Elena
Curator: Angela Zach-Buchmayer
Elena Kristofor creates works that reflect our relationship to nature in a unique way. For several years she has questioned the term nature and explored how our gaze is shaped by it.
Invited by Nomad Spirit, an international artist exchange program, Kristofor spent four weeks in the Gobi region. There, she created works that address the interdependence of humans and nature as well as the impact of the human-made climate change in Mongolia. The average temperature in the second largest landlocked country in the world has already surpassed the two-degree limit that was set by the Paris Agreement. The consequences of this global development are seen in droughts, strong winds, and sudden periods of extreme cold—an indication of future challenges to our environment.
In the series “Anomaly in Space—Steppe I–III” and “Dance or Struggle with Nature,” Kristofor addresses the search for balance between humans and nature. These works are presented for the first time in Vienna in the exhibition “STEPPE SCAPE.”
