The Potential of Conversations leading Nowhere
Exhibition
New Jörg Jägerstraße 56, 1200 Wien
11.—30.10.2025
Artists: Kinbom Anna
With “The Potential of Conversations Leading Nowhere,” Anna Kinbom continues her work of finding moments of creativity in seemingly useless or embarrassing events. The title is inspired by Jessica Benjamin’s concept of “sustaining the tension of a paradox,” which deals with dwelling in uncertainty. In her solo exhibition, Kinbom presents a series of works inspired by various aspects of her upbringing. Her pieces explore themes such as (post)modernism, anthroposophy, and psychology in relation to parenting, alongside Lacanian psychotherapy. The art book “The Potential of Conversations Leading Nowhere,” created by Kinbom in 2022, serves as the foundation for a new German adaptation. What occurs when you write in a language that is not your mother tongue? What potential and frustration arise from the challenges of translation? In her work “Stories Untold,” Anna Kinbom develops her own photography-based therapy method. Additionally, her new video and sound production draws from a childhood memory of her time in a Steiner kindergarten: a boy stained Anna’s new pink jacket with oil from a machine in the yard. Or was he simply drawing a picture?
