Julius von Bismarck. Normality Bias
Exhibition
KunstHausWien Untere Weißgerberstraße 13, 1030 Wien
10.9.2025 — 8.3.2026
Artists: von Bismarck Julius
Curator: Sophie Haslinger
With powerful images, technical inventions, and extreme experimental setups, Julius von Bismarck interrogates human perception and the relationship between humanity and what we call “nature.” Driven by a profound spirit of experimentation, the artist fuses scientific curiosity with artistic vision. In spectacular actions, he lashes the sea, captures lightning, or paints entire landscapes. The resulting photographs, video works, sculptures, and installations are visually striking and unafraid of grand gestures.
KunstHausWien is dedicating the German artist’s first major institutional solo exhibition in Austria to his work. The engagement with the natural forces of fire and water—within a living environment increasingly shaped by human influence—forms the exhibition’s thematic thread. Alongside a selection of cross-media works from the past fifteen years, a series of new photographic works will also be presented.
